Patient Care Technician-Neuro/Stroke/Tele Specialist

We are seeking a highly skilled Patient Care Technician to join our Neuro/Stroke/Tele team at Northshore. As a Patient Care Technician, you will play a vital role in providing exceptional patient care and support to our patients and families.
Key Responsibilities- Provide basic care to patients, including bathing, grooming, oral care, eating, feeding, and positioning, under the supervision of a RN/LPN.
- Assist patients with ambulation, transferring, lifting, and repositioning using Safe Patient Handling equipment.
- Perform hourly rounding on assigned patients to ensure their needs are met.
- Assist with room setup, welcoming new patients, and discharging patients.
- Accurately complete and document patient care activities, including ADLs, vital signs, weights, intake and output, and calorie counts.
- Effectively explain and perform procedures, such as urinary catheter removal, ECGs, wound care, and dressing changes under the direction of the nurse.
- Collect non-sterile specimens, such as routine urinalysis and stool specimens.
- Perform point of care patient blood sugar testing under the direction of the nurse.
- Support the nursing team by performing indirect patient care activities, such as restocking equipment, cleaning equipment, and answering and relaying telephone calls.
- Eligible to work in the US.
- Completion of an accredited certified nursing assistant (CNA) training course preferred.
- Completion of at least one nursing clinical rotation in medical or surgical nursing preferred.
