Role Summary

The Instrument Inventory Management Coordinator plays a vital role in ensuring optimal patient care by overseeing instrument inventory levels, managing the instrument tracking system, and generating analytical reports to enhance operational efficiency. This position may also involve supporting sterile processing technicians in their daily tasks as required.

Key Responsibilities

  1. Manage the procurement and inventory of supplies and instruments, ensuring the instrument tracking system is accurately maintained. Collaborate with leadership to standardize and organize the tracking system.
  2. Establish and maintain an orderly workspace that promotes efficient handling and storage of supplies and instruments, contributing to the optimization of surgical assets.
  3. Oversee daily operations of the instrument tracking system, including the creation of count sheets, staff management, inventory audits, and cataloging of instruments.
  4. Work closely with leadership to identify process improvements, utilizing data collection and reporting tools to enhance efficiency.
  5. Serve as a key communication link between sterile processing staff, operating room personnel, and vendors, ensuring that all needs are met in alignment with clinical and materials management strategies.
  6. Adhere to budgetary constraints while researching pricing and balancing clinical requirements.
  7. Participate in departmental meetings and maintain required certifications, ensuring compliance with all policies and procedures.
  8. Maintain confidentiality of sensitive information and uphold integrity in all business activities.
  9. Provide training and support to staff, ensuring they are well-versed in all aspects of the position.
  10. Perform additional duties as assigned to support departmental objectives.

Qualifications

Education: High school diploma or equivalent is required.

Experience: A minimum of one year in a related role, such as sterile processing technician or surgical technician, demonstrating familiarity with instrumentation. Proficiency in Microsoft Office and data analysis is essential.

Certifications: Nationally recognized certifications for Sterile Processing Technicians are required, including CRCST or CSPDT and CIS or SIS certifications.

Skills: Strong problem-solving abilities, excellent interpersonal skills, and manual dexterity are essential for success in this role.
