About the Role

We are seeking a highly skilled Diagnostic Medical Sonographer to join our team at UnitedHealth Group. As a Diagnostic Medical Sonographer, you will play a critical role in performing diagnostic medical ultrasound examinations, utilizing your expertise to produce high-quality images and provide accurate diagnoses.

Key Responsibilities
  • Consistently exhibit behavior and communication skills demonstrating Optum commitment to superior customer service, including quality, care, and concern with every internal and external customer.
  • Produce diagnostic ultrasound with the ability to recognize visualized anatomy and pathology in all ultrasound modalities.
  • Select the proper type of equipment (transducers, frequency, Doppler, etc.) as required for each examination.
  • Consistently demonstrate technical proficiency in producing diagnostic scans.
  • Explain procedures and equipment to patients and check for understanding.
  • Ensure that the patient's needs for privacy and confidentiality are met and that the patient is physically covered whenever possible.
  • Consistently use and reinforce proper body mechanics and appropriate personal protection equipment.
  • Self-identify unsafe systems, processes, and/or situations and report them using the appropriate forms.
  • Consistently demonstrate knowledge of infection control standards.
  • Maintain a clean, neat and safe environment for patients and staff according to company and department policies.
  • Assist in the development of new procedures and techniques as required.
  • Perform general office duties such as ordering supplies and equipment as needed.
  • Ensure that the delivery of services reflects efficient and effective use of supplies and appropriate utilization of resources.
  • Attend and participate in educational programs and shares knowledge with peers.
  • Adhere to Universal Precautions at all times.
  • Adhere to safety policies and procedures at all times.
  • Use, protect, and disclose patients' protected health information (PHI) only by Health Insurance Portability and Accountability Act (HIPAA) standards.
  • Perform additional duties as assigned.
Requirements
  • High School diploma, GED or equivalent experience.
  • Graduate from an accredited school of Sonography.
  • ARDMS certification in OB/GYN or Abdomen.
  • 3+ years of ultrasound experience.
Preferred Qualifications
  • Basic Life Support for Healthcare providers (AHA) or CPR/AED for the Professional Rescuer (American Red Cross).
  • Completion of formal Vascular Technology program.
  • Completion of Br (registered in Breast Ultrasound).
