Position Overview:
The Senior Plant Controller will play a crucial role as a financial authority within the manufacturing facility, overseeing all financial operations, including cost accounting, inventory management, financial reporting, and labor costing.
This position demands a keen analytical perspective, meticulous attention to detail, and the capacity to collaborate effectively with both plant operations and corporate finance teams.
The ideal candidate will possess significant experience in a manufacturing context and be open to occasional travel for collaboration with other facilities or corporate offices.
Key Responsibilities:
Cost Accounting:
Direct the cost accounting function, encompassing standard cost development, variance analysis, and cost control measures.
Establish, implement, and oversee cost control protocols to ensure the plant operates within financial parameters.
Examine production costs and partner with operations to pinpoint and execute cost-saving initiatives.
Inventory Management:
Supervise all inventory management tasks, including month-end reconciliations, adjustments, and reporting.
Guarantee precise and timely inventory valuation, covering raw materials, work-in-progress, and finished goods.
Conduct regular physical inventory checks and cycle counts to uphold accuracy.
Financial Reporting:
Compile and present monthly, quarterly, and annual financial reports, including profit and loss statements, balance sheets, and cash flow statements.
Offer insights and recommendations derived from financial data to aid decision-making at both plant and corporate levels.
Labor Costing:
Formulate and maintain labor costing frameworks, including both direct and indirect labor.
Evaluate labor expenses and collaborate with HR and operations to enhance workforce productivity.
Monitor and report on key labor metrics, including overtime, productivity, and labor variances.
Budgeting and Forecasting:
Oversee the annual budgeting process for the plant, including the creation of detailed forecasts and financial strategies.
Track actual performance against budget and forecasts, providing variance analysis and corrective measures as necessary.
Internal Controls and Compliance:
Ensure robust internal controls are established and followed in all financial operations.
Assist with internal and external audits, ensuring prompt resolution of any findings or recommendations.
Stay informed about changes in accounting regulations and ensure compliance at the plant level.
Business Partnership:
Act as a financial advisor to the Plant Manager and other operational leaders, providing financial insights and support.
Engage in cross-functional teams aimed at process enhancements, cost reductions, and operational efficiencies.
Travel Requirements:
Occasional travel to other plant locations or corporate offices may be necessary for collaboration with finance and operations teams, conducting audits, or supporting projects.
Qualifications:
Education:
Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Finance, or a related discipline. CPA, CMA, or similar certification is preferred.
Experience:
A minimum of 5-7 years in a comparable role within a manufacturing setting.
Demonstrated expertise in cost accounting, inventory management, financial reporting, and labor costing.
Skills:
Proficient in ERP systems (e.g., SAP, Oracle) and advanced Excel capabilities.
Exceptional analytical and problem-solving skills.
Strong communication abilities, capable of conveying complex financial information to non-financial stakeholders.
Ability to manage multiple priorities and meet tight deadlines.
Other:
Willingness and capability to travel up to 20% of the time.
