Medical Billing Specialist

Rutland Regional Medical Center is seeking a skilled Patient Accounts Rep II to join our team. This critical role requires a detail-oriented and organized individual who can facilitate payment of patient accounts, ensuring a positive cash flow for the hospital.
About the Role:
- Accurate and timely preparation, submission, and follow-up of claims to third-party carriers, intermediaries, and patients.
- Maintain effective communication with patients, families, and healthcare providers to resolve account-related issues.
- Analyze and resolve billing discrepancies in a fair and efficient manner.
- Develop and implement strategies to improve cash flow and reduce days in accounts receivable.
Requirements:
- A minimum of 2 years of experience in patient accounting, including 1 year of electronic billing systems experience.
- Associate's Degree in a business or related field or equivalent experience.
- Knowledge of hospital billing practices, healthcare payors, and electronic remittance processing.
- Excellent communication, problem-solving, and analytical skills.
- Able to work independently and collaboratively as part of a team.
