About the Role

We are seeking a highly motivated and detail-oriented Chemical Engineer Trainee to join our team at Heidelberg Materials. As a Cement Trainee, you will participate in a structured training program designed to provide an overview of the cement plant operations.

Key Responsibilities
  • Participate in production and maintenance meetings to ensure seamless operations.
  • Learn basic supervisory skills by working side-by-side with experienced engineers and managers in different departments.
  • Complete assigned project work and performance studies to drive process improvements.
  • Participate in various training programs to enhance your knowledge and skills.
  • Conduct root cause analysis to identify and resolve operational issues.
  • Support the operations in improving plant performance through partnering with experienced engineers and managers in different departments.
  • Learn basic supervisory skills by working side-by-side with production supervisors.
  • Participate in our Continuous Improvement Program by suggesting changes in routines, personnel, equipment, and process improvements.
  • Follow plant and WorkSafeBC Safety Policies, including the proper use of Personal Protection Equipment, and maintain awareness of plant environment standards.
Requirements
  • Bachelor's degree in chemical engineering or a related field (mechanical or electrical engineering considered with solid academic achievements).
  • Prior manufacturing exposure/experience a plus.
  • Willingness to travel to other locations during the training program.
  • Strong communication skills, both oral and written.
  • Ability and desire to work in a fast-paced environment with 24/7 operations.
