About the Role

UT Southwestern Medical Center is seeking an experienced MRI Technologist to join our team at Simmons Comprehensive Cancer Center. As a key member of our diagnostic imaging team, you will play a critical role in providing high-quality patient care and contributing to the advancement of cancer research.

Responsibilities
  • Review physician orders for accuracy and completeness, ensuring that all necessary information is present for MRI protocols.
  • Screen patients for MRI appropriateness and review contraindications for exams, including implants, metallic devices, or other foreign objects that may prohibit or modify the MRI exam.
  • Discuss findings with physicists and radiologists as applicable, and consult with radiologists to determine appropriate sequences, parameters, and modifications to MRI protocols.
  • Document changes and modifications to MRI protocols in the electronic health record, ensuring accurate and up-to-date information.
  • Ensure that images and records are properly completed with patient identification data and appropriate labeling.
  • Administer intravenous injections of contrast material as appropriate, observing patients for adverse reactions.
  • Perform MRI exams, ensuring that patients meet safety requirements and follow established protocols.
  • Assist patients in dressing for exams and attend to their physical well-being while transporting to and from exam rooms and positioning for exams.
  • Communicate with patients and/or their families regarding tests to be performed, evaluating their ability to tolerate exams.
  • Perform QC testing and report problems with MRI systems and workstations to the service engineer/biomed, with additional correspondence sent to physicists and imaging leadership.
  • Maintain various data sets, including baseline scans, 12-month scans, and 24-month scans, and archive them as necessary.
  • Perform data calculations, scoring, and statistical analyses while following established QC standards for digital images.
  • Participate in accreditation imaging requirements and perform post-processing on MRI systems and remote workstations.
Requirements
  • American Registry of Radiologic Technologists - ARRT (MR) or American Registry of Magnetic Resonance Imaging Technologists (ARMRIT) certification.
  • Basic Life Support (BLS) certification, course accredited by the American Heart Association (AHA) or American Red Cross (ARC), by the first day of employment.
  • Two years of MRI experience preferred.
