Job Summary

Covenant Health is seeking a highly organized and detail-oriented Patient Registration Specialist to join our team. As a key member of our healthcare team, you will be responsible for coordinating the centralized scheduling of outpatient diagnostic and surgical procedures, ensuring accurate collection and data entry of patient information, and verifying benefits and pre-certification requirements.

Key Responsibilities
  • Collect and verify patient demographic and financial information, ensuring accuracy and completeness.
  • Coordinate with patients, physicians, and other hospital staff to schedule appointments and procedures.
  • Verify insurance benefits and obtain pre-certification from third-party payers.
  • Enter patient information into the HBOC scheduling system and maintain accurate records.
  • Communicate with patients and families to explain medical and financial information, including consent for treatment and advance directives.
  • Provide exceptional customer service and maintain a professional demeanor in a fast-paced environment.
  • Collaborate with clinical and care management areas to improve overall collections and cash flow.
  • Participate in quality improvement initiatives and maintain accurate records of patient interactions.
  • Perform other duties as assigned by leadership.
Requirements

Covenant Health is seeking a motivated and detail-oriented individual with a minimum of one year of experience in a hospital or financial setting. Preference will be given to candidates with a Bachelor's degree in a directly-related field. The ideal candidate will possess excellent communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to work effectively in a team environment.

Candidates must be able to multi-task and prioritize tasks effectively, with a strong attention to detail and accuracy. Computer skills using Excel and Cerner are a plus. Occasional travel between offices may be required.
