About the Job
King County is seeking an experienced Labor Relations Negotiator to join our team in a term-limited temporary or special duty role. This position will serve as the County's spokesperson in negotiating and administering complex labor contracts, providing strategic input on proposed labor policies, and advising on contract interpretation and application.
Key Responsibilities
- Develop and present briefing materials to the King County Executive and/or King County Council on proposed labor policies
- Negotiate labor contracts and Memorandum of Agreement with unions representing County employees
- Serve as the County's spokesperson in labor negotiations and administer complex labor contracts
- Provide strategic input on labor law and employment issues, including mediation, arbitration, and grievance hearings
Requirements
- Experience with labor contract administration and labor/management committees
- Familiarity with negotiation, mediation, and other forms of pre-litigation conflict resolution
- Strong verbal and written communication skills
- Ability to adapt to a continuously changing environment
