Position Overview

The Client Support Specialist plays a crucial role in ensuring a seamless experience for donors during the plasma collection process. This position is responsible for preparing both the donor and the necessary equipment, while also monitoring the entire procedure to ensure safety and efficiency.

Main Responsibilities

1. Set up the autopheresis machine for the plasma collection process.
2. Observe the donor and the collection process, responding promptly to any alarms or signals that may arise.
3. Safely disconnect the donor upon completion of the procedure.
4. Maintain vigilance regarding any reactions the donor may experience during or after the collection, and inform the appropriate personnel as needed.
5. Utilize a Personal Digital Assistant (PDA) to document incidents that occur during the collection, including machine alerts, volume discrepancies, and donor reactions.
6. Use the PDA to associate equipment and supplies with the respective donor.
7. Notify the Group Leader or Supervisor of any issues related to donor flow.
8. Ensure accurate documentation of donor information in the electronic management system, adhering to established Standard Operating Procedures (SOPs).
9. Understand the policies and procedures related to specialized programs at the center, if applicable.
10. Maintain a clean and efficient workspace, ensuring that all necessary supplies and forms are readily available. Adhere to all Health, Safety, and Environmental (HSE) and Occupational Safety and Health Administration (OSHA) guidelines, promoting safety in all actions.
11. Uphold the confidentiality of all personnel, donor, and center information.

Additional Responsibilities

12. May receive cross-training in other areas to support business needs.
13. Bilingual skills may be required to meet the diverse needs of the organization.
14. Perform other job-related duties as assigned.

Qualifications

Education: High school diploma or equivalent is required.

Experience: A minimum of three (3) months of work experience, preferably in a medical or healthcare environment, or an equivalent combination of education and experience is preferred.

Skills: Must be capable of performing basic mathematical calculations.

Working Conditions

Physical & Mental Requirements:
Ability to comprehend, retain, and apply both oral and written instructions.
Ability to follow basic guidelines and instructions.
Must be able to see and communicate effectively with clients and monitor equipment operation.
Occasionally required to perform tasks while standing and walking for extended periods.
Must possess the ability to reach, bend, kneel, and demonstrate a high level of manual dexterity.
Occasionally required to lift and carry items weighing up to 25 pounds.
Work in a fast-paced environment with frequent interruptions.
Exposure to hazardous materials, extreme temperatures, and bloodborne pathogens is possible; Personal Protective Equipment (PPE) is required in specific tasks or areas.
Willingness to work overtime and extended hours as necessary to support operational needs.
