Job Summary

We're seeking a highly skilled and dependable Pharmacy Technician II to join our team in Portland, ME. As a Pharmacy Technician II, you will play a critical role in supporting our mission to advance the world of veterinary medicine.

Key Responsibilities
  • Prepare medication for animal consumption under the general supervision of a licensed pharmacist and in accordance with standard departmental procedures.
  • Support the company mission, vision, and values by providing exceptional customer service and working collaboratively with colleagues.
  • Perform duties assigned by a licensed pharmacist, including reading and interpreting veterinarian orders, transcribing orders onto a pharmacy computer medication profile, and preparing compounds for use under direct pharmacist supervision.
  • Prepare prescriptions to be dispensed after pharmacist approval, ensuring compliance with pharmacy law and standards of pharmacy practice.
  • Check and remove outdated medications on a routine basis to ensure that no deteriorated medications are in stock, and maintain accurate records.
Requirements
  • Pharmacy Technician experience preferred.
  • High School diploma or GED.
  • State of Maine Pharmacy Technician license required.
  • CPhT Certification preferred.
Competencies
  • Perform basic math sufficient to add, subtract, multiply, and divide in all units of measurement correctly and consistently.
  • Operate a calculator proficiently.
  • Interact with computer software via a keyboard.
  • Pay attention to details and retain information readily.
  • Read, comprehend, and translate regulations and laws into understandable instructions.
  • Communicate verbally in a professional manner with colleagues, shareholders, and other contacts.
  • Function effectively as a team player.
  • Knowledge of basic principles, theories, and laws, policies, and procedures that pertain to compounding.
  • Exhibit punctuality and low absenteeism.
  • Knowledge of mail order pharmacy preferred.
Physical Demands/Work Environment

The ideal candidate must be able to read reports and computer screens, hear well enough to communicate with colleagues, walk and stand for extended periods, operate a computer and telephone, and occasionally lift objects up to 50 pounds.
