Regional Fleet Maintenance Manager

We are seeking an experienced Regional Fleet Maintenance Manager to join our team at North America Central School Bus. This is an excellent opportunity to drive and mentor Fleet Excellence in our MO, KS, TX, ID, and western IL locations.

Key Responsibilities:
  • Ensure compliance with Federal & State DOT regulations, maintenance standards, and company policies and procedures.
  • Strategically manage and drive financial budgets of shops; explain budget variances and develop action plans to meet targets.
  • Monitor maintenance system compliance to ensure all labor, repairs, and parts are documented within the system.
  • Make proactive recommendations to change standards, procedures, and policies which enhance shop performance and efficiencies.
  • Develop and maintain good working relationships with both internal and external customers and management to ensure customer satisfaction.
  • Investigate and approve repair orders.
  • Monitor and ensure performance of shops through strategic planning, Key Performance Indicators (KPIs), and other processes to meet the company's standards of excellence.
  • Develop and foster lines of communication between shops, operations, and corporate office to keep all informed of potential issues.
  • Assist in the recruiting, selection, assessment, and development of technicians.
  • Develop subordinates through counseling, training, and empowerment of responsibilities.
Requirements:
  • Technical certificate, trade school, or equivalent experience.
  • Proficient computer skills, including Microsoft Office and OEM software.
  • Ability to use or learn to use internet, additional programs, and office equipment.
  • Strong written and interpersonal communication skills.
  • Excellent leadership, analytical, and troubleshooting skills.
  • Minimum 5 years of experience in a managerial position with emphasis in transportation specifications and applications.
  • Broad knowledge of vehicle maintenance, diesel preferred.
  • Ability to work independently and as a team player.
  • Strong financial and budgetary skills.
  • Ability to plan strategically.
  • Capable of managing multiple priorities and meeting deadlines.
  • Exhibits progressive leadership through actions and measurable results.
Working Conditions:

This role operates in an office environment as well as a transportation terminal facility environment. The employee is frequently exposed to fumes or airborne particles, moving vehicles, weather conditions, pedestrian traffic, and uneven or rough paved, concreted, and stoned surfaces.

While performing the duties of this job, the employee is regularly required to talk or hear. The employee regularly is required to stand, walk, sit, bend, kneel, stoop, climb, use hands to manipulate, handle or feel objects, tools or controls; and reach with hands and arms. The employee frequently lifts and/or moves objects up to 25 pounds.

Travel to other locations of 50% of the time may be required.
