Job Description

We are seeking a highly skilled and caring Child Care Assistant to join our team at the Coast Guard Exchange in New London, CT.

About the Role

This is a full-time opportunity that offers a competitive salary of $18.84/hour, plus comprehensive benefits package. The successful candidate will be responsible for providing top-notch childcare services to children in a group program, ensuring their physical, emotional, and social development.

Key Responsibilities
  • Develop and execute engaging early childhood education experiences with various materials to promote healthy child development.
  • Collaborate with the director and teachers to design and implement age-appropriate curriculum and activities.
  • Maintain a safe and positive environment that encourages positive interactions between children, youth, and adults.
  • Assist in leading planned activities for program participants and interact with children using approved guidance techniques.
  • Monitor children during indoor and outdoor activities and maintain control of their whereabouts and safety at all times.
Requirements

To be considered for this role, applicants must possess:

  • A high school diploma or equivalent.
  • The ability to read, write, and speak English fluently.
  • At least one year of experience working with children in a group program.
  • The physical ability to lift and carry up to 45 pounds and perform routine care-giving tasks.
