Position Overview:

The Invasive Cardiovascular Labs encompass 14 specialized labs, including Cardiac Catheterization, Interventional Radiology, and Electrophysiology Labs, along with a Comprehensive Stroke Center equipped with dual bi-plane Neurovascular rooms. As an Interventional Radiology Specialist 2 within the IR Lab, you will be involved in various cases, including:

Neuro and Vascular Procedures:

  • Embolization of the Middle Meningeal Artery
  • Complex treatments for Neuro Aneurysms (Flow Diverter cases, coilings, and Device-Assisted coilings)
  • Management of Stroke cases
  • Staged treatments for Arteriovenous Malformations (AVMs)

Vascular Procedures Include:

  • Complex Peripheral Interventions (Atherectomy and Thrombectomy)
  • Advanced Biliary Interventions (BATO/BRTO and TIPS)
  • Interventional Oncology (Y90/TACE using the Philips Emboguide system, Port placements, and Pain Management techniques such as Cryo and Microwave)
  • Vascular Embolization cases (Trauma and GI, Subclavian post-TEVAR, Sclerotherapy, Pelvic Congestion, and AAA Endoleak repairs)
  • Complex Pulmonary Interventions (CTEPH management through Balloon Angioplasty and PE Thrombectomy)

Key Responsibilities:

Utilize Inova Health System's Inventory Management systems effectively.Assist nursing staff in clearly communicating procedures to patients and their families to alleviate concerns.Diagnose equipment issues promptly and coordinate service calls to Biomedical when necessary.Anticipate procedural workflows and collaborate with team members to ensure the highest quality of care.Maintain a safe working environment by identifying hazards and implementing corrective actions as required.Exhibit proficiency in imaging modalities relevant to Cardiovascular and Interventional Radiology, including digital imaging, laser printing, and cut film.Demonstrate advanced knowledge of sterile techniques while supporting interventional radiologists during procedures.Administer IV contrast or other test-enhancing solutions following the guidelines established by the American College of Radiology (ACR).Perform additional duties as assigned.

Qualifications:

Certification - Basic Life Support (BLS) and American Registered Radiologic Technologists (ARRT) registry in Vascular Interventional (VI), Cardiovascular (CV), or Cardiovascular Interventional (CI) are required.

Licensure - A license as a Radiologic Technologist in the Commonwealth of Virginia is necessary only if the position is situated in a free-standing center not affiliated with an Inova Health System Hospital.

Experience - A minimum of one year of experience as a Cardiovascular Interventional Radiology Technologist is required.

Education - Completion of a Vocational/Technical program in Radiologic Technology; graduation from an accredited Radiography school; an Associate's degree or higher is preferred.
