Position Overview
We are currently looking for a Full-Time Behavioral Support Specialist to effectively assist individuals with intellectual and developmental disabilities.

Role Responsibilities
The Behavioral Support Specialist will utilize evidence-based practices and innovative techniques in both home and community settings to empower individuals with disabilities to develop essential physical, cognitive, emotional, and social skills necessary for independent living.

  • Deliver on-site support to participants using data-driven methodologies that incorporate trauma-informed care and positive behavior strategies.
  • Model and execute behavioral support techniques outlined in the Individualized Support Plan to help participants acquire, retain, and enhance their behavioral and adaptive skills.
  • Provide structured and timely feedback to clinical staff regarding the effectiveness of the support strategies.
  • Engage in collaborative meetings with the participant's support network to discuss recommendations and next steps.
  • Collect and analyze data on participant progress to ensure effective behavior management and skill development.
  • Prepare detailed progress reports for the participant's support team as necessary.
  • Maintain a safe and nurturing environment for all participants.

Minimum Qualifications
To be considered for this role, candidates must possess:

  • A High School Diploma or GED.
  • Completion of a 40-hour training program for behavioral technicians.
  • A valid driver's license with a clean driving record.
  • Knowledge of Positive Behavior Support methodologies.
  • The ability to implement Individualized Support Plans independently.
  • Strong interpersonal skills to build supportive relationships with participants.
  • Excellent judgment and composure in crisis situations.
  • Proficiency in data collection and interpretation.
  • Effective communication skills, both verbal and written.
  • Strong time management abilities.

Working Conditions
This position may require:

  • Availability to work evenings and weekends.
  • Physical exertion, including lifting and stretching.
  • Use of a personal vehicle for work-related tasks.
  • Ability to lift or move items weighing 25+ pounds.
  • Exposure to various medical conditions and communicable diseases.
