Position Overview

We are seeking a dedicated **Acoustic Research Specialist** to explore and analyze ultrasound propagation through human tissue using advanced experimental methods and signal processing techniques.

Key Responsibilities
  • Develop and validate models that simulate ultrasound propagation through human tissue through rigorous experimental methodologies.
  • Conduct comprehensive literature reviews and technology assessments, sharing insights with the team through both written and verbal communication.
  • Collaborate with multidisciplinary engineering teams to design, construct, and validate innovative wearable hardware prototypes that facilitate groundbreaking research.

Engage with cross-functional research partners to comprehend their objectives and translate them into specific hardware system requirements.

Qualifications
  • Extensive experience with ultrasound-guided wave techniques.
  • Proficiency in ultrasound non-destructive evaluation methods.
  • Familiarity with seismology signal processing techniques.
  • Experience with ultrasound transducers, including coupling methods to soft tissue, loading effects, matching networks, and driving-signal generation.
  • Knowledge of airborne sonar applications.
  • A PhD in Acoustics, Physics, Mechanical Engineering, or related disciplines.

Additional Requirements:

  • Minimum of 5 years of experience in experimental techniques for studying wave propagation through human tissue, including ultrasound imaging, quantitative ultrasound, or laser Doppler vibrometry.
  • At least 5 years of experience in acoustic signal processing, encompassing techniques such as 2D Fourier transform, Radon transform, Ricker wavelet decomposition, dispersion relation estimation, time reversal, beam forming, or surface-wave inversion methods.
  • 5+ years of experience with finite-element acoustics modeling using tools like Ansys, Comsol, or similar software.
  • Proficiency in programming languages such as MATLAB, Python, C++, or equivalent.
