Your responsibilities as a Groundhand:

  • Act as the ground support for Aerial Crews engaged in fiber and coaxial cable construction. Your tasks will include supplying necessary materials to the crew, operating bucket trucks as directed, assisting with cable lasher operations, and climbing utility poles when required. You will also receive training to become 'Flagger Certified' to manage traffic safely during job site operations.
  • Ensure that all necessary notifications and door tagging for construction activities are completed before the start of each workday.
  • Conduct daily inspections and maintenance of company vehicles and equipment, documenting all findings. If licensed, you may drive company vehicles to and from job sites.

Ideal candidate profile:

  • Must be at least 18 years of age
  • Authorized to work in the United States
  • High school diploma or equivalent required
  • Valid standard Driver's License with a minimum of 2 years of driving experience or a Class A Commercial Driver's License
  • 0-1 years of experience in unskilled labor; experience in telecommunications is advantageous
  • Capable of lifting and carrying up to 50 lbs regularly and up to 75 lbs as needed, with or without assistance
  • Certification as a pole climber is a plus, or the ability to demonstrate proficiency in pole climbing
  • Familiarity with the installation of aerial and underground cables in compliance with relevant codes and specifications is beneficial
