Job Overview

We are seeking a skilled and compassionate Certified Medical Assistant to join our healthcare team in Durham, NC.

This position focuses on providing injection administration and care coordination within our chronic care management model.

The role operates under general physician supervision with established protocols, combining remote work with in-person patient care at our two Durham facilities.

Key Responsibilities
  • Administer prescribed IM and SubQ injections following established protocols and standing orders
  • Document all injection procedures and patient responses
  • Coordinate patient care between healthcare providers, facilities, and support services
  • Maintain communication with supervising physician as needed for patient care
  • Monitor and track patient care plans
  • Schedule and coordinate patient appointments
  • Provide telephonic patient support and follow-up
  • Maintain accurate and detailed documentation in electronic health records

Required Qualifications

  • Current Medical Assistant Certification from an accredited organization (AAMA, NCCT, AMT, or NHA)
  • Documented training in injection administration
  • Demonstrated experience in IM and SubQ injection techniques

Preferred Qualifications

  • Previous experience working under standard protocols and standing orders
  • Care coordination or case management experience
  • Experience with chronic care management
  • Psychiatric care experience
  • Basic Life Support (BLS) Certification

Work Environment

  • Practice operates under general physician supervision with established protocols
  • Hybrid work arrangement combining remote and in-person duties
  • Travel required between two Durham facilities
  • Professional healthcare setting
  • Independent work environment requiring strong decision-making skills
  • Must be comfortable working without on-site physician presence while following protocols

Compliance Requirements

  • Adherence to established clinical protocols and standing orders
  • Maintenance of current CMA certification
  • Completion of facility-specific injection administration training
  • Documentation of all patient care activities
  • Compliance with all facility policies and procedures
