Job Summary

This position is a critical member of the healthcare team at the Indian Health Service, providing direct pharmacy services to patients in the outpatient department. The successful candidate will be responsible for evaluating medication regimens, filling and dispensing prescriptions, and counseling patients on medication use and safety.

Key Responsibilities
  • Evaluate medication regimens for appropriateness, including drug, dose, indication, and duration
  • Fill and dispense accurate prescriptions and over-the-counter medications
  • Counsel patients on medication use, storage, cautions, and side effects
  • Order and interpret laboratory tests and ambulatory monitors related to pharmacy and standards of practice
  • Provide therapeutic and pharmacokinetic drug monitoring
  • Analyze medication regimens to ensure the most effective, least toxic, and most economical treatment plan
Requirements
  • Doctoral degree in Pharmacy from an accredited institution
  • Licensure to practice pharmacy in a State, the District of Columbia, the Commonwealth of Puerto Rico, or a territory of the United States
  • At least 3 years of progressively higher-level graduate education leading to a Ph.D. degree, Ph.D., Pharm.D. or equivalent doctoral degree
  • Minimum of 1 year of professional pharmacy experience in a hospital system or pharmacy-based clinic
Working Conditions

This position requires the ability to work in a fast-paced environment, rotating days, evenings, nights, weekends, and holidays. On-call hours or standby duty may be required.
