Job Summary

We are seeking a skilled Clinical Services Technician to join our team at WakeMed. As a Clinical Services Technician, you will be responsible for collecting pathology specimens at our Ambulatory Care Centers. Your primary duties will include registration processing, allocation of laboratory specimens, and verification of patient/specimen identification.

Key Responsibilities
  • Collect pathology specimens at free-standing Ambulatory Care Centers
  • Register and process laboratory specimens and orders from all sources
  • Verify patient/specimen identification and appropriateness of specimen and accompanying orders
  • Organize laboratory workflow and prioritize processing and preparation of specimens for transport
  • Maintain a clean and orderly work environment and proper PAR levels of supplies
  • Utilize equipment, instruments, and computer systems to test, request, accession, label, and package specimens
  • Perform specified procedures within scope of established testing methods and responsibilities
  • Manage patient wait times and expectations using available computer systems and clear communication
  • Demonstrate service excellence by acknowledging customers in a friendly and professional manner
Requirements
  • 1 year of clinical experience as a Phlebotomist or equivalent education requirement
  • High School Diploma or Equivalent
  • Preferred: Graduate Phlebotomy or Certificate from an Accredited Institution
  • Preferred: Phlebotomy Licensure
Work Schedule

Varies, Monday through Friday, 7:30am - 5:30pm. No weekends or call requirements.
