Job Summary

The Assistant Conductor and Chorus Manager is a key member of the artistic and chorus operations team, working closely with the Artistic Director to ensure the success of choral rehearsals, performances, and events.

Key Responsibilities
  • Assist the Artistic Director in conducting rehearsals and performances, including marking parts and scores, facilitating warm-ups, and running sectionals.
  • Provide rehearsal notes to the Artistic Director after each rehearsal, and communicate these notes to the chorus as needed.
  • Coordinate arrangements for instrumentalists, conductors, and chorus members, including seating, music stands, and lighting.
  • Manage and oversee section leader and volunteer singer auditions, and serve as the primary point of contact for all audition inquiries.
  • Track hours and payroll information for section leaders, and manage contracts and attendance policies for chorus members.
  • Update and maintain the chorus member website, Chorus Connection, with rehearsal and performance details.
  • Communicate with the chorus about production schedules and logistics, and serve as the main point of contact.
  • Participate in every performance and rehearsal, and attend at least 3 board meetings per year.
Requirements
  • Extensive conducting and administrative experience.
  • Masters degree or commensurate experience.
  • Ability to handle organizational and communication aspects of the position in a positive, professional, and timely manner.
  • Flexibility and willingness to be available to help, maintaining patience and a positive attitude amidst a sometimes hectic and always busy concert season.
  • Positive attitude and ability to work as a team player.
