Job Summary

Under the supervision of a licensed healthcare professional, this role is responsible for transporting patients, medical equipment, laboratory specimens, and supplies within the medical center. The ideal candidate will possess excellent communication skills, a strong attention to detail, and the ability to work effectively in a fast-paced environment.

Key Responsibilities
  • Transport patients (pre-operative, post-operative, hemodialysis, etc.) by wheelchair or gurney within the medical center.
  • Pick up routine and STAT requests for laboratory specimens, blood, equipment, supplies, and other materials, and deliver to the appropriate location.
  • Transport expired patients to the morgue with an escort by a security officer.
  • Pick up soiled patient equipment and supplies from nursing units and transport to central processing.
  • Transport equipment from the NICU to central processing as requested.
  • Perform CPR and respond to Code Blue Pages as necessary.
Requirements
  • 6 months of previous experience in general patient care/hospital transportation.
  • Demonstrated ability to follow written and oral directions.
  • Demonstrated ability to communicate effectively.
  • Basic Life Support certification within 1 month of hire.
Preferred Qualifications
  • High School Diploma/GED.
  • Valid Class C California Driver's License and a current California Driver Record Information Sheet.
  • Nursing Aide certification.
