Join Our Team as an HVAC Maintenance Specialist


At Texas Biomedical Research Institute, we are on the lookout for skilled HVAC technicians at all levels to enhance our facilities department. This role involves performing routine maintenance tasks and utilizing your expertise to diagnose issues, execute repairs, and replace worn or defective components in building systems, machinery, laboratory equipment, and HVAC systems.

All candidates will undergo a comprehensive background check.



Key Responsibilities:

  • Conduct regular inspections of HVAC systems and facilities, performing on-site repairs or reporting issues as necessary.
  • Provide strategic recommendations for long-term repairs and enhancements of HVAC systems.
  • Execute electrical work limited to repairs on 120 to 240-volt services, adhering to relevant electrical codes.
  • Respond to emergencies by making urgent repairs and adjustments, and participate in the Emergency Response Team.
  • Carry out routine preventive maintenance on various HVAC systems and maintain detailed logs of filter changes and types of filters utilized.
  • Plan and organize work using diagrams, blueprints, maintenance manuals, and schematic drawings.
  • Diagnose mechanical issues and determine corrective actions by consulting blueprints, repair manuals, and parts catalogs.
  • Assist in managing inventory for HVAC repair supplies.
  • Provide 24/7 on-call emergency service on a rotating schedule with other maintenance staff to ensure operational reliability.

Ideal Candidate Profile:

We are seeking candidates who possess a high school diploma or GED, along with advanced certification and/or licensing in a technical field.

A minimum of 1 year of experience in HVAC repair and maintenance, as well as familiarity with mechanical piping, is required.

A valid Texas Operator's Driver's License with a clean driving record is essential.


Preferred Qualifications:
  • Over 3 years of experience in HVAC repair and maintenance.
  • At least 2 years of training in HVAC trade applications.
  • Certification in Chlorofluorocarbon (CFC) handling.
  • Experience in programming and installing Programmable Logic Controllers (PLC).
