Job Overview

CDR Maguire Inc., a prominent multi-disciplinary engineering firm, is actively seeking skilled Transportation Construction Inspectors for various projects in the upcoming season.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Ensure adherence to contract specifications by the contractor.
  • Engage with contractors, consultants, engineers, and site supervisors regarding plans, specifications, materials, equipment, and safety protocols related to construction activities.
  • Compile daily progress reports and monitor project timelines.
  • Review shop drawings and contractor proposals for discrepancies.
  • Maintain detailed records of material quantities and associated costs.
  • Prepare and assess contractors' periodic payment requests and provide recommendations for payment.

Additional Duties:

  • Travel as necessary to fulfill the above responsibilities or as directed by management.
  • Foster a positive work environment that promotes competence and pride in the organization.
  • Perform other related tasks as required by the position.

Qualifications:

  • High school diploma or GED is required.
  • Proficient in reading, writing, and communicating effectively in English, with the ability to perform basic mathematical calculations.
  • A minimum of one (1) year of experience with PennDOT or two (2) years in transportation, highway, or bridge construction inspection is required.
  • Four (4) years of experience in highway or bridge construction, non-highway or bridge inspection, or highway or bridge design may substitute for other required experience, provided the twelve (12) web-based TCI training modules are completed.
  • A degree in Civil Engineering or Construction may substitute for required experience.
  • A Bachelor's degree in a non-Civil Engineering field, along with the successful completion of the twelve (12) web-based TCI training modules, may also substitute for required experience.

Preferred Certifications:

  • NICET Level 2 or higher in Transportation/Highway Construction
  • NECEPT Bituminous field certification
  • ACI/PennDOT Concrete field technician certification
  • PennDOT/PTC CDS certification
  • Experience with ECMS
  • OSHA 10-Hour certification
