Job Summary

We are seeking a highly skilled and experienced Audio Production Manager to join our team at InsideHigherEd. The successful candidate will be responsible for overseeing all audio technical aspects of our events and productions, ensuring a high-quality and safe performance environment for our audience.

Key Responsibilities
  • Audio Production Management: Manage a team of audio technicians to support stage, production, sound, and lighting needs of performances, including audio visual, administrative, live audio mixing, sound reinforcement, setting up A/V equipment, microphones, and stage management.
  • Event Collaboration: Collaborate with Video Production Manager and team for events that require video and audio recording, ensuring seamless integration of audio and visual elements.
  • Client Liaison: Work closely with representatives from various departments and outside renters to support event production, audio visual, sound, and curricular needs of the school, achieving an excellent audio production and quality learning opportunity.
  • Staff Supervision: Supervise and administer production crew and scheduling events with the appropriate number of staff and with the necessary skill set and training.
  • Staff Development: Supervise audio technical staff training and evaluating performance, ensuring they meet the required standards.
  • Policy Development: Create and develop necessary policies and procedures to improve the production department's ability to support the school's events.
  • Safety and Maintenance: Enforce safety standards and preventative maintenance and training programs, ensuring compliance with school-wide policy and procedures.
Requirements
  • Experience: Five years of technical theater and management experience, with a proven track record of successfully managing audio production teams.
  • Knowledge: Advanced knowledge of audio mixing, sound reinforcement, video, and stage production, with proficiency in Microsoft Word, Excel, and Outlook.
  • Skills: Professional demeanor, superior communication skills, comfort in high-pressure situations, adaptable, solutions-oriented problem solver, with excellent organizational skills and ability to effectively prioritize workload.
  • Education: Bachelor's Degree or equivalent experience, with additional education may substitute for required experience and additional related experience may substitute for required education, to the extent permitted by the JHU equivalency formula.
Preferred Qualifications
  • Education: BFA in theater or related professional experience preferred.
  • Skills: Skilled audio engineer preferred, with experience with Yamaha TWIN Lane and RJio audio equipment with SILK preamps preferred.
