  • A network of Greenmarkets and Farmstands that provide fresh, local produce to all New Yorkers.
  • Comprehensive waste reduction programs that facilitate recycling and composting across the five boroughs.
  • Support for community and school gardens through volunteer efforts, training, and grants.
  • Engagement of 70,000 children annually in programs that foster connections with the natural world.

Position Summary

The Project Coordinator will play a crucial role in the New York Food for New York Families Program, aimed at enhancing the resilience of food and agricultural supply chains throughout New York State. This initiative is funded through a grant from the USDA and aims to establish over 20 free food distribution sites in collaboration with community organizations in areas of high need. The coordinator will ensure the effective distribution of 1.5 million pounds of produce within the project timeframe.

Key Responsibilities

  • Manage the execution of the project scope, ensuring compliance with program requirements and timely deliverables.
  • Identify target communities for the program in collaboration with internal teams.
  • Engage with community organizations to facilitate outreach.
  • Collaborate with program staff to determine product offerings and logistics.
  • Provide training and support for community partners involved in distribution.
  • Establish and maintain strong relationships with community partners.
  • Act as a liaison between partners and program staff, addressing any distribution concerns.
  • Monitor and report on program performance metrics, including budget and distribution statistics.
  • Prepare and submit required reports in accordance with program guidelines.
  • Maintain compliance documentation related to the program.

Qualifications

  • 2-3 years of experience in food operations or program management.
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office and Google Workspace.
  • Familiarity with order management or CRM software.
  • Strong organizational and communication skills, with the ability to engage diverse audiences.
  • Problem-solving abilities and a commitment to social and environmental justice in food systems.
  • Valid driver's license and a clean driving record.
  • Experience working with diverse populations.

Preferred Qualifications

  • Bachelor's degree in a relevant field.
  • Proficiency in Spanish, Mandarin, or Cantonese is a plus.
  • Knowledge of sustainable agriculture and food justice.

Physical Requirements

  • Ability to lift up to 50 lbs.
  • Capability to conduct outreach and training in person.
  • Ability to operate a vehicle.

Work Schedule

This is a full-time, year-round position with a typical workload of 35-38 hours per week, including a paid meal break. Flexibility may be required for occasional weekend work.

Compensation

This is a non-exempt position with an hourly wage range of $22-$23, accompanied by comprehensive benefits including medical, dental, vision, and paid time off.
