Position Summary
The GrowNYC Wholesale division has secured funding through the New York Food Support Program to enhance food distribution and agricultural supply chain resilience throughout New York State. This initiative aims to assist local farmers and producers by establishing over 20 free food distribution sites in collaboration with community organizations in areas of high need. The Project Coordinator will play a crucial role in ensuring the effective operation of these sites, with a target of distributing 1.5 million pounds of produce during the project duration.
Key Responsibilities
- Manage the execution of the project scope, ensuring compliance with program requirements and timely delivery of objectives.
- Identify target communities for the program in collaboration with relevant stakeholders.
- Conduct outreach to community organizations to foster partnerships.
- Collaborate with program staff to determine product offerings and coordinate logistics.
- Provide training and support for community partners involved in food distribution.
- Build and maintain strong relationships with community partners.
- Act as a liaison between community partners and program staff, addressing any distribution challenges.
- Monitor and report on program performance metrics, including budget and distribution statistics.
- Prepare and submit required reports and compliance documentation.
Qualifications
- 2-3 years of experience in food operations or program management.
- Proficiency in Microsoft Office and Google Workspace.
- Experience with order management or CRM software.
- Strong organizational and communication skills, with a commitment to inclusivity.
- Effective problem-solving abilities.
- Dedication to promoting a just food system.
- Strong initiative and time management skills.
- Valid driver's license and clean driving record.
- Experience working with diverse populations.
Preferred Qualifications
- Bachelor's degree in a relevant field.
- Proficiency in Spanish, Mandarin, or Cantonese is highly desirable.
- Knowledge of sustainable agriculture and food justice issues.
Physical Requirements
- Ability to lift up to 50 lbs.
- Capability to conduct in-person outreach and training sessions.
- Ability to operate a passenger vehicle.
Work Schedule
This is a full-time, year-round position with a standard workload of 35-38 hours per week, including a paid meal break. Flexibility may be required for occasional weekend work.
