Job Title: Assistant Director, Multiracial Democracy Project

The George Washington University is seeking an Assistant Director for the Multiracial Democracy Project, a research initiative that aims to produce solutions to facilitate the nation's transition to a well-functioning democracy that represents its diverse population.

Job Summary:

The Assistant Director will be responsible for managing the project's research and policy work, coordinating networks of organizations, scholars, and policymakers, and planning and organizing events and gatherings. The ideal candidate will have a strong background in research, policy, and project management, with excellent communication and organizational skills.

Responsibilities:
  • Manage the project's research and policy work, including developing research parameters, methodologies, and data analysis
  • Coordinate and manage networks of organizations, scholars, and policymakers
  • Plan and organize events and gatherings, including webinars, symposia, conferences, panels, roundtables, and other gatherings
  • Track and monitor funding and related processes, including receipt reimbursement, documenting award amounts and expenditures, monitoring proposal and report deadlines, and tracking grant deliverables
  • Serve as a key liaison with other GW departments, including communications, procurement, and IT
  • Provide support for the project's communications portfolio, including website development and other external-facing stakeholder updates, publications, releases, and media engagement
Requirements:
  • BA/BS in a related discipline plus 5 years of relevant professional experience
  • Excellent communication and organizational skills
  • Strong background in research, policy, and project management
  • Ability to work well as part of a team and exhibit cultural intelligence and attention to detail
