Job Title: Public Health Nurse

We are seeking a highly skilled and dedicated Public Health Nurse to join our team at the Georgia Department of Public Health. As a Public Health Nurse, you will play a critical role in promoting health and preventing disease in our communities.

Job Summary:

The Public Health Nurse will provide comprehensive nursing care to clients, including assessments, treatments, and preventative care. You will work closely with healthcare teams to develop and implement care plans, and maintain accurate records of client care.

Responsibilities:
  • Provide comprehensive assessments of client health care needs
  • Administer treatments, medications, and vaccines as prescribed
  • Consult and coordinate with healthcare teams to assess, plan, implement, and evaluate client care plans
  • Maintain accurate, detailed records of client care
  • Modify client treatment plans as indicated by client responses and conditions
  • Monitor all aspects of client care, including diet and physical activity
  • Monitor, record, and report symptoms and changes in client conditions
  • Prepare clients for and assist with examinations and treatments
  • Prepare rooms, sterile instruments, equipment, and supplies, and ensure that stock of supplies is maintained
  • Provide education to clients, families, and community service providers
  • Provide healthcare, first aid, and immunizations
  • Provide school-related healthcare services
Requirements:
  • Associate's degree in nursing from an accredited college or university
  • Completion of a PHN course within one year of hire
  • Current Georgia Registered Professional Nurse license
  • CPR certification
