Job Title: Public Health Registered Nurse

We are seeking a highly skilled and dedicated Public Health Registered Nurse to join our team at the Georgia Department of Public Health. As a Public Health Registered Nurse, you will play a critical role in promoting health and preventing disease in our communities.

Job Summary:

The Public Health Registered Nurse will provide professional nursing care to individuals and communities, focusing on prevention, health promotion, and disease prevention. You will work closely with our team to develop and implement health programs, provide education and training to community members, and collaborate with healthcare providers to ensure seamless care.

Responsibilities:
  • Provide comprehensive physical assessments and develop care plans based on nursing assessment and established protocols.
  • Focus on prevention of illness, injury, or disability, and promote health and maintenance of the health of populations.
  • Develop and implement health programs, including education and training for community members.
  • Collaborate with healthcare providers to ensure seamless care and referrals.
  • Utilize Electronic Medical Record to accurately document patient care and enter billing information for reimbursement.
  • Administer and dispense medications and vaccines based on nursing assessment and according to established nurse protocol.
  • Provide education to clients, families, and community partners.
  • Assist with completing monthly/quarterly reports.
  • Use individual, team, and organizational learning opportunities for personal and professional development.
Requirements:
  • Associate's degree in Nursing from an accredited college or university AND completion of a PHN course within one year of hire AND current Georgia Registered Professional Nurse license AND CPR certification.
  • OR Bachelor's degree in Nursing from an accredited college or university AND current Georgia license to practice as a Registered Professional Nurse AND CPR certification.
  • OR Associate's degree in Nursing from an accredited college or university AND One year of nursing experience AND completion of a PHN course within one year of hire AND current Georgia Registered Nurse license AND CPR certification.
Preferred Qualifications:
  • Public Health Nursing Experience.
  • Residents preferred for Emergency Preparedness Planning for the Health Department.
