Job Summary

This position is responsible for performing skilled work of moderate difficulty in the operation of heavy trucks and equipment in the construction, maintenance, and repair of County properties. The ideal candidate will have a strong background in construction, maintenance, trades, or heavy equipment experience, and possess a valid Arizona Class A Commercial Driver's License (CDL) for the operation of combination vehicles with manual transmissions.

Key Responsibilities
  • Operate a variety of heavy trucks and equipment with manual transmissions and hand tools
  • Perform manual labor assignments and work on construction and maintenance projects
  • Build and maintain road structures, assist in repairing roadway surfaces, culverts, headwalls, shoulders, and guardrails
  • Assist with the construction and repairs of building fixtures
  • Inspect, perform, and routine maintenance on trucks and heavy equipment
  • Identify and report mechanical problems, control traffic in work zones, and complete required daily logs and reports
  • Provide on-call, 24-7 services on a predetermined rotation schedule
Requirements
  • High School Diploma or GED equivalent
  • Two (2) years of construction, maintenance, trades, or heavy equipment experience
  • Valid Arizona Class A Commercial Driver's License (CDL) for the operation of combination vehicles with manual transmissions
  • Successful completion of a background check and pre-employment drug test
Working Conditions

The ideal candidate will be able to work in varying extreme weather conditions, be exposed to exhaust and chemical fumes, oil, and hazardous materials, and lift pounds. The job requires 30% bending, 20% walking, 20% stooping, and 30% standing.
