Nature of Work
This position is essential for the evaluation of intricate audit cases.

The Senior Revenue Auditor conducts professional assessments of financial records and accounting books of businesses to ensure adherence to revenue regulations and to ascertain tax obligations stemming from these audits.

The role necessitates a high degree of diplomacy when engaging with the public and involves interpreting laws and regulations pertinent to tax administration and enforcement.

Independent judgment and initiative are critical in executing complex field audits across various sectors. Interaction with the public, legal professionals, accountants, and other stakeholders, as well as collaboration with fellow auditors and management, is a significant aspect of the role.

Audit methodologies are aligned with tax legislation and departmental requirements.

Auditors working for Montgomery personnel primarily focus on audits related to all taxes imposed or authorized by the governing body.

The auditors also engage in city sales and business tax audits, along with city business license evaluations. Occasionally, auditors may collaborate on coordinated audits with other tax authorities.

The distinction between the Senior Revenue Auditor and the Revenue Auditor lies in the complexity of cases assigned, with the Senior Auditor handling the most challenging assignments.

Moreover, the Senior Auditor is responsible for mentoring new auditors and providing assistance in the field for moderately complex cases assigned to the Revenue Auditor.

The Senior Revenue Auditor reports directly to the Assistant Revenue Manager.
Minimum Qualifications

A Bachelor's degree in accounting, business administration, public administration, or a closely related discipline, along with two (2) years of experience in revenue auditing, is required.
