The Senior Financial Officer will be tasked with the preparation and issuance of financial statements, detailed operational reports, and financial analyses for designated entities on a monthly basis. This role involves the creation of monthly journal entries, conducting thorough monthly and annual reviews of general ledger accounts, and maintaining comprehensive account analyses. Furthermore, the Senior Financial Officer is accountable for adhering to federal, state, and local reporting obligations for all Baptist Health entities, which includes the preparation of corporate, partnership, and tax returns.
This individual will also handle inquiries and correspondence from the IRS and other governmental bodies. Additionally, the role requires the preparation of audit documentation for Baptist Health and associated retirement plans, as well as the provision of necessary information to external auditors and tax professionals. The Senior Financial Officer may also undertake special projects as directed by the Vice President of Finance and Financial Accounting leadership.
Key Responsibilities:
- Prepare and issue financial statements and operational reports.
- Conduct monthly journal entries and analytical reviews of accounts.
- Ensure compliance with all relevant reporting requirements.
- Respond to inquiries from governmental agencies.
- Prepare audit work papers and assist with external audits.
- Engage in special projects as assigned.
- Bachelor's degree in Business Administration with a concentration in Accounting.
- Certified Public Accountant designation preferred or equivalent professional experience.
- A minimum of two years of experience in public accounting or industry.
- Proficient in Microsoft Office Suite and spreadsheet applications.
- Ability to perform under pressure and manage multiple priorities.
- Effective communication skills with personnel at all levels.
- Experience in training and mentoring adult learners.
- Strong organizational skills and ability to meet deadlines.
- Excellent analytical and problem-solving capabilities.
- Familiarity with healthcare financial terminology.
- Leadership skills in prioritizing tasks and ensuring timely completion.
- Ability to innovate and implement cost-saving strategies.
