Job Summary

We are seeking a highly skilled Interventional Radiologic Technologist II to join our team at Advocate Health. As a key member of our radiology department, you will be responsible for operating angiographic and ultrasound equipment to perform complex procedures on inpatients and outpatients.

Key Responsibilities
  • Proficiently operate angiographic and ultrasound equipment to perform advanced procedures, including carotid stenting, cerebral intervention, and vertebroplasty.
  • Assist with interventional and surgical procedures as a scrub assistant, working seamlessly with attending and resident physicians.
  • Monitor patients and alert staff of life-threatening changes in patient status, applying the defibrillator and performing cardiopulmonary resuscitation as needed.
  • Identify and process images, ensuring diagnostic quality, and assist clinical engineering staff in evaluating digital equipment.
  • Compare requisitions to physician orders to ensure accurate exam performance.
  • Post-process images, accurately identifying and labeling patient information, and maintain records in accordance with regulatory agencies.
  • Serve as a technical resource, role model, and preceptor for students and staff, facilitating clinical problem-solving and collaborating with other departments.
  • Perform patient positioning and transporting duties, utilizing proper technique and adhering to safety protocols.
Requirements
  • Radiographer license issued by the state of Wisconsin.
  • Registered Technologist (RT) registration issued by the American Registry of Radiologic Technologists (ARRT).
  • Basic Life Support (BLS) for Healthcare Providers certification issued by the American Heart Association (AHA), obtained within 6 months.
  • Advanced Cardiac Life Support certification (ACLS) issued by the American Heart Association (AHA), obtained within 6 months (unless department leader has determined it is not required).
  • Advanced training beyond High School in Radiologic Technology.
  • Typically requires 2 years of experience in an Interventional Radiologic Technologist role.
Knowledge, Skills & Abilities
  • Advanced knowledge in radiology positioning and techniques.
  • Advanced knowledge of basic radiation safety and aseptic techniques.
  • Advanced knowledge of anatomy, including vascular and/or cerebral.
  • Ability to work effectively with diverse providers and proficiency in suturing vascular access sheaths.
  • Intermediate computer skills.
Physical Requirements and Working Conditions

This role requires the ability to sit, stand, walk, lift, squat, bend, twist, and reach above shoulders frequently throughout the workday. Must be able to lift up to 50 lbs. from floor to waist, lift up to 20 lbs. over the head, and carry up to 40 lbs. a reasonable distance. Must be able to push/pull with 30 lbs. of force and perform a sliding transfer of 150 lbs. with a second person present.

May be exposed to mechanical, electrical, chemical, and radiation hazards as well as blood and body fluids; therefore, personal protective equipment must be worn as necessary.

Must have clear speech, vision, and hearing, and operate all equipment necessary to perform the job.
