Job Summary

We are seeking a highly skilled and experienced Interventional Radiologic Technologist II to join our team at Advocate Health. As an Imaging Expert, you will play a critical role in providing high-quality imaging services to our patients.

Key Responsibilities
  • Imaging Services: Proficiently operate angiographic and ultrasound equipment to perform basic to advanced procedures on inpatients and outpatients, including carotid stenting, cerebral intervention, angiograms, and vertebroplasty.
  • Procedure Assistance: Assist with interventional and surgical procedures as a scrub assistant, providing competent knowledge of equipment and options, and serving as a resource to physicians on procedural equipment options.
  • Patient Monitoring: Monitor patients and alert staff of life-threatening changes in patient status, applying the defibrillator and performing cardiopulmonary resuscitation when required.
  • Image Processing: Identify and process images, ensuring diagnostic quality, and assist clinical engineering staff in evaluating digital equipment to maintain consistent image quality.
  • Exam Accuracy: Compare requisitions to physician orders to ensure ordered exam accuracy.
  • Image Labeling: Post-process images as directed, accurately identifying and labeling images, including patient name, medical record unit number, and location or position of scan.
  • Record Keeping: Maintain records in accordance with regulatory agencies, and enter patient and study information into the radiology information system, documenting billing codes of procedures performed.
  • Technical Resource: Serve as a technical resource, role model, and/or preceptor for students and staff, acting as a resource to staff at own facility and throughout the system.
  • Clinical Problem Solving: Facilitate clinical problem solving and collaborate with other departments to provide education on managing patients after procedures, and any other imaging department processes and procedures.
  • Patient Positioning: Perform various patient positioning and transporting duties, requiring lifting and pushing/pulling, while utilizing proper technique.
Requirements
  • Licensure and Registration: Radiographer license issued by the state of Wisconsin, and Registered Technologist (RT) registration issued by the American Registry of Radiologic Technologists (ARRT).
  • Certifications: Basic Life Support (BLS) for Healthcare Providers certification issued by the American Heart Association (AHA) within 6 months, and Advanced Cardiac Life Support certification (ACLS) issued by the American Heart Association (AHA) within 6 months, unless department leader has determined it is not required.
  • Education: Advanced training beyond High School that includes the completion of an accredited or approved program in Radiologic Technology.
  • Experience: Typically requires 2 years of experience in an Interventional Radiologic Technologist role.
  • Knowledge and Skills: Advanced knowledge in radiology positioning and techniques, basic radiation safety and aseptic techniques, anatomy, physician protocols, embolic and thrombolytic materials, physiologic monitoring equipment, and surgical scrub technique.
Working Conditions
  • Physical Requirements: Must be able to sit, stand, walk, lift, squat, bend, twist, and reach above shoulders frequently throughout the workday.
  • Physical Abilities: Must be able to lift up to 50 lbs. from floor to waist, lift up to 20 lbs. over the head, carry up to 40 lbs. a reasonable distance, push/pull with 30 lbs. of force, and perform a sliding transfer of 150 lbs. with a second person present.
  • Environmental Factors: May be exposed to mechanical, electrical, chemical, and radiation hazards as well as blood and body fluids; therefore, personal protective equipment must be worn as necessary.
