Key Responsibilities:

The Facilities Engineer plays a vital role in supporting manufacturing processes by managing and optimizing facility systems and equipment. This position focuses on enhancing operational efficiency and driving continuous improvement initiatives. The primary duties include:

  • Equipment and System Oversight: Diagnose and resolve equipment and system issues, implementing corrective measures to mitigate manufacturing or quality challenges.
  • Process Evaluation: Monitor and analyze process performance in collaboration with quality assurance, research and development, and production teams.
  • Procurement and Setup: Support the acquisition, installation, commissioning, and validation of facility systems and equipment.
  • Operational Enhancements: Engage in the development and implementation of procedural improvements to boost operational effectiveness.
  • Safety Regulations: Ensure compliance with safety protocols and training for personnel and equipment.
  • Regulatory Adherence: Establish and uphold policies to ensure compliance with legal and company standards, including Quality, Human Resources, Health & Safety, and Environmental regulations.
  • Building Systems Knowledge: Maintain a comprehensive understanding of building systems operations, maintenance, and repairs, focusing on plant utilities, HVAC, and management systems.
  • Technical Assistance: Provide expert support for diagnosing equipment problems, conducting preventive maintenance, and assisting with repairs and relocations.
  • Maintenance Strategy: Develop and implement job plans and work procedures, including Preventive Maintenance (PM) and Predictive Maintenance (PdM) programs.
  • Utility Management: Ensure the efficient operation of utilities equipment in alignment with production objectives, leveraging data analysis for strategic planning.
  • Facilities Planning: Formulate and execute strategies for facility operations, emphasizing equipment criticality and sustainability.
  • SOP Development: Create and update Standard Operating Procedures (SOPs) for facility systems and equipment.
  • Asset Oversight: Maintain a comprehensive register of all critical plant facilities, equipment, and machinery.
  • Vendor Coordination: Manage contractors and service providers to support utilities, buildings, tooling, and processing equipment.
  • Maintenance Management: Utilize maintenance management systems to schedule repairs, preventive maintenance, and calibrations, ensuring accurate documentation.
  • Continuous Improvement: Promote process and procedural enhancements in line with lean manufacturing principles.
  • Sustainability Projects: Lead initiatives aimed at improving energy efficiency and reducing environmental impact.
  • Ethical Standards: Conduct all activities in a compliant and ethical manner, adhering to industry regulations and standards.
  • Cost Efficiency: Focus on maintaining cost efficiency, budget compliance, operational performance, and spare parts management.

Qualifications:

Education:

  • Bachelor's Degree in Mechanical, Electrical, or Industrial Engineering, or equivalent technical experience.

Experience:

  • At least 5 years of experience in building operations, engineering, and systems maintenance, with a minimum of 3 years in a facility engineering capacity.
  • Experience in pharmaceutical or biotechnology sectors is preferred.

Skills and Competencies:

  • Familiarity with Good Manufacturing Practices (GMPs) is advantageous.
  • Basic knowledge of Piping and Instrumentation Diagrams (P&IDs) and facility schematics is desirable.
  • Excellent communication skills and the ability to thrive in a dynamic, team-oriented environment.
  • Strong project management capabilities with an understanding of construction principles related to electrical, mechanical, hydraulic, and pneumatic systems used in manufacturing facilities.
