Position Overview
The College of Human Sciences at Texas Tech University is seeking nominations and applications for the pivotal role of Chairperson for the Department of Interdisciplinary Human Sciences. This leadership position reports directly to the Dean and encompasses responsibilities for overseeing the department's academic initiatives, governance, strategic planning, faculty and staff management, student recruitment, and financial operations.
Key Responsibilities
- Provide visionary leadership to establish and promote the new Department of Interdisciplinary Human Sciences.
- Act as the primary advocate for the department, ensuring alignment with the college and university's missions.
- Foster a collaborative and positive work environment that supports the professional growth of faculty and staff.
- Lead efforts to secure funding for research projects and encourage faculty in their research endeavors.
- Represent the department to various stakeholders, including students, faculty, administration, and the broader professional community.
- Engage in development activities to strengthen relationships with alumni and industry partners.
Position Details
This is a 9-month, tenured faculty position at the rank of Associate Professor or Professor. The Chair will maintain an active research agenda while contributing to teaching responsibilities.

Qualifications
- A doctoral degree in family sciences, human sciences, or a closely related field.
- Proven effectiveness in teaching and a strong record of peer-reviewed publications or creative activities.
- Excellent interpersonal and communication skills.
- Academic qualifications that meet tenure expectations at the rank of Associate Professor or Professor.
- Previous leadership or administrative experience is preferred.
