Position Overview

We are seeking a dedicated and skilled Genomics Research Scientist to join our team in the Department of Translational Medicine and Human Genetics. This role is pivotal for those passionate about genomics and data analysis, particularly in the context of cardiometabolic diseases.

Key Responsibilities

In this role, you will:

  • Lead comprehensive studies from hypothesis development through to study design, pipeline creation, and results publication.
  • Conduct analyses of clinical and genomic data utilizing advanced statistical methodologies, including longitudinal analysis and machine learning.
  • Implement bioinformatics techniques for population genetics investigations, such as GWAS and genetic risk prediction.
  • Regularly update the Principal Investigator on project advancements and collaborate with national partners.
  • Prepare detailed reports for publication and grant applications, and present findings at national conferences.
  • Provide training and mentorship to junior analysts, students, and postdoctoral researchers in genomics methodologies.

Qualifications

The ideal candidate will possess:

  • A Bachelor’s degree with 2 to 3 years of relevant experience, or an equivalent combination of education and experience. A Ph.D. in a computational or engineering discipline is preferred.
  • Completed coursework in biostatistics, biology, computer science, or bioinformatics.
  • Proficiency in programming languages such as Python, Perl, and R.
  • Experience in a UNIX/Linux environment and familiarity with parallel computing.
  • Strong analytical skills and the ability to work independently while demonstrating critical thinking.
  • Excellent organizational and time management abilities, with a capacity to collaborate within a multidisciplinary team.
