Position Summary

The Landscape Project Supervisor, under the direction of the Landscape Project Manager, is responsible for overseeing the efficient operations of landscape crews while adhering to budgetary constraints. This role involves collaboration with various teams within EMI to prioritize quality and client satisfaction. The supervisor will provide leadership and training to crew leaders, ensuring that all work meets the company's high standards.

Supervisory Duties

This position supervises a team of 10 to 15 employees, depending on project size. Responsibilities include training staff, planning and directing work, evaluating performance, and addressing any personnel issues in accordance with company policies and legal requirements.

Key Responsibilities

  1. Project Coordination: Work alongside landscape designers and project managers to comprehend project specifications and create comprehensive installation plans.
  2. Site Oversight: Manage daily installation tasks on landscape sites, ensuring effective coordination of labor, equipment, and materials.
  3. Team Leadership: Direct and manage on-site installation teams, ensuring tasks are delegated and executed efficiently.
  4. Quality Control: Enforce quality standards in landscape installation, ensuring compliance with design specifications and industry best practices.
  5. Resource Coordination: Liaise with suppliers and vendors to guarantee timely material delivery. Manage inventory and control expenses.
  6. Safety Management: Implement and uphold safety protocols to ensure a secure working environment. Conduct regular safety meetings and inspections.
  7. Client Engagement: Maintain consistent communication with clients throughout the installation process, providing updates and addressing any concerns.
  8. Issue Resolution: Tackle and resolve challenges that arise during installation, seeking practical solutions to keep projects on track.
  9. Record Keeping: Maintain accurate documentation of project activities, including daily logs and reports of any modifications made during installation.

Required Qualifications

  • Experience: A minimum of 4 years of hands-on experience in managing landscape installation or construction projects, with at least 2 years in a supervisory role.
  • Leadership Skills: Ability to motivate, develop, and guide personnel effectively, identifying the right individuals for specific tasks.
  • Time Management: Proficient in managing personal and team schedules.
  • Problem-Solving: Capable of identifying complex issues and evaluating options to implement effective solutions.
  • Industry Knowledge: Familiarity with relevant equipment, policies, procedures, and industry standards.
  • Equipment Proficiency: Valid driver's license and reliable transportation. Familiarity with various equipment including Fork Lift, Skid Steer, Chainsaw, and Excavator.
  • Operational Control: Competence in managing equipment operations and monitoring performance indicators.
  • Quality Assurance: Experience in conducting tests and inspections to evaluate quality and performance.
  • Resource Management: Skilled in obtaining and ensuring the appropriate use of necessary materials and equipment.
  • Communication Skills: Ability to read and interpret technical documents and effectively communicate with diverse audiences. Bilingual in Spanish is a plus.

Work Environment

  • Regular exposure to outdoor weather conditions, including wet or humid environments and working near moving machinery.
  • Occasional exposure to vibrations, chemicals, and potential electrical hazards.
  • Typically loud noise levels in the work environment.

Physical Demands

  • Frequent lifting of heavy materials exceeding 50 lbs.
  • Ability to stand, kneel, crouch, and bend for extended periods.
  • Frequent use of hands and arms.
  • Regular verbal communication.
  • Work may occur in various conditions, including dusty, dirty, or wet environments.
