The Solar Plant Maintenance Supervisor plays a crucial role in overseeing the execution of all operations and maintenance (O&M) activities within photovoltaic (PV) facilities. This includes, but is not limited to, the assessment, upkeep, and repair of all primary and ancillary components utilized in solar energy generation. This position offers extensive on-the-job training, classroom instruction, and online learning opportunities focused on all facets of PV fundamentals, installation, testing, maintenance, and repair of both small commercial and large-scale solar systems.

Key Responsibilities:

• **Safety Commitment:** Foster a safety-first culture by ensuring compliance with OSHA, NFPA, and local regulations, alongside Strata Solar Services safety protocols. Technicians are required to undergo thorough training and demonstrate complete understanding before engaging in any fieldwork.

• **Electrical Proficiency:** Acquire a deep understanding of electrical principles to interpret design schematics and swiftly identify and report any electrical safety concerns.

• **Maintenance Execution:** Carry out both planned and unplanned maintenance activities aimed at improving plant efficiency and performance.

• **Energized Work:** Operate around live electrical components, adhering to established electrical codes and company guidelines, following rigorous training.

• **Tool Utilization:** Employ various tools such as multimeters, low resistance Ohmmeters, PV Analyzers, IR thermometers, and handheld irradiance meters for electrical maintenance tasks.

• **Safety Briefings:** Conduct pre-job safety meetings and ensure adherence to all safety protocols prior to commencing work.

• **Continuous Learning:** Participate in training sessions at both local and remote facilities to enhance skills and knowledge.

• **Travel Requirements:** Travel to remote project sites within the operational fleet to provide support and ensure successful project execution.

• **Lockout/Tagout Procedures:** Implement Lockout/Tagout (LOTO) protocols to ensure compliance with electrical isolation standards.

• **Troubleshooting:** Diagnose and resolve common Direct Current (DC) faults within the solar facility.

• **Documentation:** Accurately complete and submit all assigned inspection and testing data in a timely manner.

• **Data Management:** Document all completed tasks using Computerized Maintenance Management Systems (CMMS) and other organizational tools.

• **Networking Skills:** Manage basic networking tasks, such as adjusting IP addresses on laptops to connect with equipment.

• **Additional Duties:** Perform other responsibilities as assigned.

Qualifications:

• High School Diploma, GED, or equivalent.

• A minimum of three (3) years of experience with energized AC or DC systems, or other relevant experience is preferred.

• Demonstrated knowledge of electrical theory and fundamentals of PV power generation systems.

• Ability to read and interpret electrical diagrams and schematics.

• Willingness to learn and understand the operation of various testing equipment, tools, and procedures used in the maintenance of solar power systems.

• Strong collaboration skills to work effectively with fellow technicians, personnel, vendors, and subcontractors.

• Proficiency in MS Office applications, including MS Word and Excel, with the ability to quickly learn new software.

• Professional demeanor consistent with the organization's policies and vision.

• Valid driver's license is required.

Physical Requirements/Work Environment:

  • Ability to work outdoors and travel occasionally to remote project sites.
  • Capability to sit, stand, or walk for the duration of a shift.
  • Ability to stoop, kneel, or bend as necessary.
  • Capacity to lift, push, or pull 50 lbs overhead repeatedly.
  • Vision of 20/40 in each eye, with or without correction, and ability to distinguish colors.
  • Must be able to wear Personal Protective Equipment (PPE).
  • Willingness to travel and work on-call during off-hours and weekends.
