Department Overview:

The Department of Anthropology at UNT specializes in cultural anthropology, emphasizing the importance of understanding culture in shaping human experiences. Our approach focuses on developing critical thinking skills and encouraging students to engage deeply with anthropological methods to address real-world challenges.

Role Summary:

The primary responsibilities of the Academic Support Specialist include assisting faculty with the preparation of examinations, grading assignments, and performing various course-related tasks as assigned. This position entails a commitment of nineteen (19) hours per week, compensated at a rate of $20 per hour.

Essential Qualifications:

Applicants must have successfully completed coursework in cultural anthropology or a related discipline with a grade of A- or better.

Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities:
  • Fundamental understanding of anthropology and related social sciences.
  • Strong critical thinking and communication skills, including clear writing abilities.
  • Proficiency in software applications such as Canvas, Microsoft Word, and Excel.
Preferred Qualifications:

A Bachelor’s degree in Anthropology is preferred.
