Position Overview
Assists the Team Leader in managing daily operations, including financial oversight, inventory management, merchandising, labor allocation, compliance with regulations, and special projects as assigned. Responsible for leading and developing Team Members. All roles at Whole Foods Market require maintaining a positive company image by delivering courteous, friendly, and efficient service to customers and Team Members consistently. All tasks must align with team and store Standard Operating Procedures. Additionally, Team Members should be prepared to perform duties inherent in other roles as necessary. All positions aim to uphold WFM core values and objectives, promote national, regional, and store initiatives, and ensure compliance with all relevant health and safety regulations, including Food Safety and departmental regulatory responsibilities.
Key Responsibilities:
  • Exemplifies and delivers exceptional customer service.
  • Establishes and meets the highest standards of retail execution.
  • Collaborates with the Team Leader to meet financial targets, including cost, margin, and labor.
  • Addresses all customer inquiries and requests; resolves issues as necessary.
  • Partners with the Team Leader to address team concerns or challenges.
  • Assesses and documents Team Member performance.
  • Acts as the primary contact and departmental leader in the absence of the Team Leader.
  • Effectively communicates and embodies WFM vision and objectives.
  • Encourages and fosters a positive environment of teamwork, mutual respect, and high morale.
  • Maintains awareness of customer needs and directs Team Members to ensure customer satisfaction; responds promptly to customer inquiries.
  • Recruits, trains, develops, mentors, motivates, and provides guidance to Team Members to sustain a high-performance team and reduce turnover.
  • Conducts timely, thorough, and constructive performance evaluations.

  • Proficient in email, Microsoft Office, and operations-related software.
Experience:
  • 18+ months of retail Team Member experience and at least 6 months of supervisory experience.
Physical Requirements / Working Conditions:
  • Must be able to lift up to 50 pounds.
  • In an 8-hour workday: standing/walking for 6-8 hours.
  • Hand use: single grasping, fine manipulation, pushing, and pulling.
  • Work involves the following motions: bending, twisting, squatting, and reaching.
  • Exposure to FDA-approved cleaning chemicals.
  • Exposure to various temperatures: below 32 degrees Fahrenheit (freezing), 32-40 degrees Fahrenheit (refrigerators), above 90 degrees Fahrenheit.
  • Ability to work in a wet and cold environment.
  • Flexibility to work a schedule that includes nights, weekends, and holidays as required.
  • Ability to operate tools and equipment, including box cutters, electric pallet jacks, and other heavy machinery.

The wage range for this position is $27.53 Hourly, commensurate with experience. Whole Foods Market offers "Whole Benefits," which may include health insurance, retirement plan benefits, eligibility for a store discount, paid time off, and access to other benefit programs. Eligibility for Whole Benefits is determined under the terms of the applicable Whole Benefits plan at the date of hire.
