Job Summary

Lone Star College is seeking a highly qualified Adjunct Faculty, English to join our team. As an Adjunct Faculty member, you will be responsible for teaching English courses at a variety of times and locations. You will create engaging lessons that promote student involvement and application of the material. You will also submit required college reports and forms in a timely manner.

The ideal candidate will have a Master's degree in English, literature, creative writing or a Master's degree with 18 graduate hours in English, literature, creative writing or rhetoric-composition studies. You will have excellent oral and written communication skills and interpersonal skills. You will also have the ability to appreciate alternative viewpoints and work effectively with a wide variety of people.

Key Responsibilities

  • Teach English courses at a variety of times and locations
  • Create engaging lessons that promote student involvement and application of the material
  • Submit required college reports and forms in a timely manner
  • Utilize a course syllabus for each course, following established institutional guidelines
  • Meet with and advise students either before or after class or by appointment, electronic communication, or other appropriate methods
  • Evaluate students to measure their progress in achieving course objectives and inform students in a timely manner of their progress
  • Maintain professional relationships with students, colleagues, and the community
  • Attend meetings, trainings, and orientations as required
Requirements

  • Master's degree in English, literature, creative writing or a Master's degree with 18 graduate hours in English, literature, creative writing or rhetoric-composition studies
  • Excellent oral and written communication skills and interpersonal skills
  • Ability to appreciate alternative viewpoints and work effectively with a wide variety of people
