Job Summary

We are seeking a skilled and experienced Certified Registered Nurse First Assistant to join our team. As an RNFA, you will play a vital role in assisting surgeons during operations, ensuring the highest level of patient care and safety.

Responsibilities
  • Assist surgeons during operations, maintaining aseptic technique and ensuring a sterile operative field.
  • Coordinate patient positioning, using body stabilizing equipment to provide optimal exposure for procedures.
  • Prepare and apply sterile wound dressings, and apply sutures, staples, or clips to close skin, fascia, or subcutaneous wound layers.
  • Discuss surgical procedures with surgeons, including operative consent, methods of operative exposure, and patient-advanced directives.
  • Determine availability of necessary equipment or supplies for operative procedures.
  • Assist with patient resuscitation during cardiac arrest or other life-threatening events.
  • Obtain or inspect sterile or non-sterile surgical equipment, instruments, or supplies.
  • Operate sterilizing devices, pass instruments or supplies to surgeons, and monitor patient intra-operative status.
  • Assist in the insertion, positioning, or suturing of closed-wound drainage systems, and coordinate with anesthesia personnel to maintain patient temperature.
  • Adjust and maintain operating room temperature, humidity, or lighting, according to surgeon's specifications.
  • Assist in applying casts, splints, braces, or similar devices, and transport patients to the operating room.
  • Remove patient hair or disinfect incision sites to prepare patients for surgery.
  • Perform other duties as assigned.
Requirements
  • Minimum two (2) years' experience working in an ambulatory or surgical setting.
  • Possess an ability to function in a high-stress, physically demanding setting.
  • Knowledge of healthcare regulations and preventative measures (HIPAA confidentiality, infection spread, etc.).
  • Exemplary customer service experience, including client relationships and job knowledge.
  • Excellent oral and written communication skills.
  • Ability to exercise manual dexterity, control precision, and arm-hand steadiness accurately.
  • Ability to be empathetic with patients and maintain confidentiality.
Compensation

$55.00 per hour
