Job Summary:

Surgical assistants play a vital role in ensuring the success of surgical procedures. As a Certified Surgical First Assistant, you will provide critical support to surgeons, helping to maintain a safe and efficient operating environment.

Responsibilities include:

  • Providing exposure, hemostasis, closure, and other intraoperative technical functions to aid the surgeon
  • Assisting in preoperative and post-operative duties to facilitate patient care
  • Working under the direction and supervision of the surgeon/physician and in accordance with hospital policy, laws, and regulations
  • Assisting in rendering patient care and direction of the Surgical Assistance Manager

Requirements:

To be successful in this role, you will need:

  • Formal working knowledge equivalent to an Associate's degree (2 years college)
  • Graduation from a CAAHEP Surgical Assistant program recognized by the US Dept. of Education & The JC or equivalent job experience mandated by ABSA, NBSTSA or NSAA
  • Current certification CFSA, CSA or SA-C & CST including CEUs requirements
  • 3-5 years of experience
