We are seeking a dedicated and skilled Facilities Maintenance Specialist to join our team at Rowan College at Burlington County. This role is responsible for ensuring the cleanliness and maintenance of our facilities, providing an exceptional experience for our students and staff.

$36,050.00 Annually

Job Description

This is a unique opportunity to work in a dynamic environment where you will be responsible for performing a variety of custodial and manual duties. Your tasks will include sweeping, vacuuming, mopping, scrubbing, waxing, and polishing floor surfaces using heavy-duty power equipment. You will also be responsible for maintaining restrooms, cleaning office furniture, emptying wastebaskets, moving furniture and fixtures, and performing snow and ice removal.

Required Skills and Qualifications

To succeed in this role, you must have a high school diploma or equivalent GED and one year of work experience in the custodial service field. You should be able to lift 40+ pounds, safely operate cleaning solutions and other chemicals, comprehend and follow directions, and effectively communicate in English. Additionally, you should have basic computer skills or the ability to learn within a 60-day probationary period.

Physical Demands

The following are some of the physical demands commonly associated with this position:

  • Moves heavy equipment, sets up ladders and works from ladders.
  • Frequently lifts and moves objects weighing up to 40 pounds, and occasionally over 50 pounds.
  • Operates 110 lb. floor buffer requiring pushing, pulling and occasional lifting with help to strip and wash floors.
  • Constantly stands, walks, stoops, bends and reaches.
  • Occasionally lifts awkward, bulky and/or heavy objects, up to 40 pounds from ground level to waist or higher.

Working Conditions

You will work inside and outside, exposed to extreme temperatures, dirt, dust, grease, and disagreeable odors. Care is required when working on ladders or lifting and using heavy equipment to avoid injury.
