Function:
Ensures optimal mill operations through machinery inspection and maintenance activities.

Key Responsibilities:

1. Conducts visual inspections of machinery to identify and prioritize maintenance needs, covering areas such as electrical systems, batching processes, boilers, and liquid storage.
2. Executes preventative maintenance utilizing a computerized work order system to complete necessary tasks.
3. Maintains accurate maintenance records by documenting observations, actions taken, and materials utilized.
4. Manages parts inventory by communicating requirements and organizing supplies.
5. Coordinates downtime or after-hours maintenance activities, including any required contract work.
6. Assists in various roles during employee absences or as needed, which may involve receiving, flaking, and operating loaders.
7. Engages in daily housekeeping tasks, ensuring cleanliness and organization of mill workspaces.
8. Adheres to OSHA, FDA, and EPA regulations, maintaining appropriate compliance documentation.
9. Follows all relevant safety protocols and policies.

Qualifications:
1. Proficient understanding of electrical systems and boiler operations.
2. Strong mechanical skills.
3. Experience in operating heavy machinery.
4. Ability to read and interpret safety regulations, operational guidelines, and maintenance manuals.
5. Competency in basic mathematics, including addition, subtraction, multiplication, and division in various units of measure.

Expected to effectively coordinate projects, utilize organizational resources efficiently, demonstrate knowledge of company policies, adapt to workplace changes, exercise sound judgment, observe safety and security measures, and report any potentially hazardous conditions.

While performing the duties of this role, the employee is regularly exposed to airborne particles and frequently works near moving mechanical components and elevated temperatures. The noise level in the environment is typically loud. The employee may be required to climb or maintain balance and work in high or precarious locations. Duties may necessitate the use of a respirator, and pulmonary function tests along with respirator fit tests may be applicable.

Essential physical activities include lifting, carrying, pushing/pulling, gripping, reaching overhead and away from the body, walking, standing, crawling, kneeling, squatting, and climbing.
