Job Summary

The Finch Henry Job Corps Center is seeking a highly skilled and dedicated Health and Wellness Specialist to join our team. As a key member of our health and wellness department, you will play a critical role in promoting healthy lifestyles and preventing substance abuse among our students.

Key Responsibilities

  • Develop and implement a comprehensive Trainee Employee Assistance Program (TEAP) to address substance abuse and promote healthy behaviors.
  • Provide education and counseling on safe and healthy lifestyles, including substance use prevention and relapse prevention.
  • Schedule and conduct regular center-wide substance use prevention and education activities.
  • Collaborate with the Center Mental Health Consultant to determine when a Medical Separation Waiver Request (MSWR) or medical separation is appropriate for students with substance use conditions.
  • Develop and monitor student intervention plans and document progress in student health records.
  • Conduct ongoing counseling and support groups to promote healthy behaviors and prevent substance abuse.
  • Work with the Center Mental Health Consultant, Center physician, wellness staff, counselors, and other non-health staff to ensure that intervention program components are fully understood and integrated.
  • Ensure that intervention planning guides a student's expected behavior in all areas of Center life and that the student is monitored, as needed, by designated Center staff.
  • Maintain liaison with community intervention resources and evaluate self-help groups to establish appropriate referrals.
  • Assist in compiling quarterly reports for submission to the National Health Service.
  • Conduct training on alcohol and other drugs of abuse to all newly employed staff and to existing staff on an annual basis.
  • Follow the CDSS plan and Standards of Conduct system, and adhere to required property control policies and procedures.
  • Comply with all DOL guidelines, OFCCP regulation, Quality Assurance Plan (QAP), Serrato policies and procedures, Job Corps notices and bulletins, and Center policies and procedures.
  • Demonstrate and abide by Serrato Corporation's core values and operating principles.
  • Maintain good housekeeping in all areas and comply with safety practices.
  • Model, mentor, and monitor appropriate Career Success Standards.
  • Help students become more employable through continuous reinforcement.
  • Participate in PRH mandated staff training.

Requirements

  • Minimum of one-year experience in drug/alcohol counseling or a related field.
  • Experience working with youth is preferred.
  • Bachelor's Degree in a related field and/or an equivalent combination of education and experience.
  • Active, unrestricted substance abuse license or certification that meets minimum state licensing or certification requirements to practice in the state where the center is located.
  • Valid State Driver's License.
