Job Title: Supervising Special Investigator II

Under the direction of the Chief and the Southern Regional Commander of the Office of Protective Services (OPS), the Supervising Special Investigator II oversees the daily operation and supervision of the protective services division at the designated Developmental Center and/or Community Facility (DC/CF).

Key Responsibilities:
  • Oversee all OPS employee functions
  • Perform and/or participate in complex investigations and sensitive staff functions related to field investigations and public safety
  • Establish a strong liaison with DC/CF management
  • Ensure all consumer-related protection issues are identified and managed accordingly
  • Provide technical assistance and consultation with the Quality Assurance Departments and Internal Audits function
Requirements:
  • Background Investigation clearance prior to being hired
  • Medical Clearance prior to being hired
  • Psychological Evaluation clearance prior to being hired
  • Completion of the Peace Officers Standards and Training (POST) Basic Academy or Specialized Investigators Basic Course
  • Current California driver's licenses
Benefits:

The Office of Protective Services is a Law Enforcement Agency. After the background check clears, the applicant will be appointed to the position. This background check includes interviews of employment and personal references; and FBI, California DOJ fingerprint clearances and DMV clearance(s). The selected applicant must complete a notarized waiver for access to their personal records.

As a sworn Peace Officer position pursuant to California Penal Code section 830.3(v), the successful candidate will undergo a complete background investigation, in accordance with the Commission on POST requirements. All appointments are subject to pre-employment physical and fingerprint clearance.
