Job Overview
The University of Virginia seeks a highly skilled Clinical Pharmacist Specialist to join our team. As a member of the UVA Specialty Pharmacy Medication Access Team, you will play a crucial role in ensuring patients receive safe, effective, and affordable medication access.

About the Role
We are looking for a talented pharmacist with excellent communication skills and a strong ability to navigate complex medication regulations. You will work closely with interdisciplinary teams to review patient records, lab results, and other clinical information to support prior authorization and appeal submissions. Your attention to detail and ability to write legibly will be essential in accurately documenting all reviews, approvals, denials, and communications in our electronic health record system.

Responsibilities
- Serve as a clinic resource for medication access technicians, providing guidance on formulary restrictions and prior authorization requirements
- Review and submit appeals for specialty medications
- Review and submit prior authorizations for specialty medications
- Utilize clinical guidelines, formulary restrictions, and evidence-based practices in decision-making
- Collaborate with the clinic team members and medication access technicians to develop strategies to streamline the prior authorization process
- Identify barriers to medication access and recommend solutions to improve efficiency and patient outcomes
- Stay informed about changes in medication coverage guidelines, pharmacy laws, and insurance regulations
- Assist patients in understanding medication access options, including prior authorization approvals, alternative therapies, or financial assistance programs

Requirements
- Bachelor's Degree required
- No experience required
- Commonwealth of Virginia State Board of Pharmacy License
- American Heart Association (AHA) Health Care Provider BLS certification required

Estimated Salary Range: $52.46 - $83.94 Hourly
